Meet the family behind the wines. In Samaniego, at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria, Alútiz brings together generations of winegrowing, historic cellars and a place to slow down in Rioja Alavesa.
A family story rooted in wine
Our family has been making wine in Rioja Alavesa for more than 200 years. In the 1980s, Eduardo Berganzo continued a tradition passed down by generations of winegrowers. Today, his children carry that story forward.
You may know us by our former name, Bodegas Pascual Berganzo. Alútiz honours our mother’s surname: a new name for the same family legacy.
Three cellars, three chapters of our history
Our winery tells its story through three different spaces. Stainless-steel tanks represent contemporary winemaking. Concrete vats built by our grandfather preserve another chapter of the family business. Below ground, a stone cellar dating from the 17th century recalls how previous generations worked.

From our vineyards to your glass
Our wines begin in our own vineyards in Rioja Alavesa. Tempranillo, Garnacha and Viura form part of the family’s winemaking heritage. Our range includes young wines made by carbonic maceration, oak-aged reds, fresh whites and distinctive white wines.
